Radiofrequency + microneedling — the most powerful skin remodeling combination
RF Microneedling combines the collagen-induction of microneedling with the deep tissue heating of radiofrequency energy, creating a profoundly more powerful remodeling effect than either technology alone. It is currently considered the gold standard non-surgical treatment for acne scars.
How it works
Insulated microneedles penetrate to a precise depth (up to 3.5mm). At the needle tips, radiofrequency energy is delivered directly into the dermis as thermal (heat) energy. This bypasses the epidermis entirely — protecting the skin surface — while delivering precise, controlled thermal injury to the deep collagen matrix. The heat denatures existing collagen fibers, which immediately contract (visible skin tightening). It also triggers a robust wound-healing response that stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin over the following weeks and months. The combination means you're getting surface-level channel stimulation from the needles AND deep thermal remodeling from the RF simultaneously. The result: significant improvement in scar texture, depth, and pore size in fewer sessions than traditional microneedling.
What to expect
After thorough numbing (30–40 min), the device is passed systematically over the treatment area. You'll feel heat and pressure — occasionally described as intense, but tolerable with numbing. The face is red and swollen immediately post-treatment, similar to a moderate sunburn. Swelling peaks at 24–48 hours.
Downtime and aftercare
3–5 days of significant redness and swelling. Skin will feel tight and tender. Most patients return to normal activities in 5–7 days. Makeup can be worn after 48 hours if needed. Full results visible at 3–6 months.
Results
Most impactful non-surgical scar treatment available. Clinical studies show 50–70% improvement in acne scar severity scores after 3 sessions. Results continue improving for 6 months after the last treatment.
Ideal for
All atrophic acne scar types (ice pick, boxcar, rolling), skin laxity, pore minimization, overall texture
Recommended treatment course
3–4 sessions, 6–8 weeks apart
Typical appointment time
60–90 min
