Proven nanosecond technology for black and dark ink removal

Q-switched Nd:YAG laser has been the clinical standard in tattoo removal for decades — delivering reliable clearance for black, dark blue, and other dark ink colors with an excellent safety record across diverse skin tones.

How it works

Q-switched (quality-switched) lasers store energy and release it in extremely rapid nanosecond pulses. This rapid release creates both thermal and limited photomechanical effects that fragment tattoo ink particles. The 1064nm Nd:YAG wavelength is particularly safe for darker skin tones (Fitzpatrick IV–VI) because it has lower melanin absorption than shorter wavelengths. The 532nm frequency-doubled wavelength targets red and orange inks. The immune system then clears the fragmented particles through lymphatic drainage over the 6–8 weeks between sessions.

What to expect

Topical numbing applied prior. Treatment feels similar to PicoLaser — snapping sensation, immediate frosting. Treatment is generally comfortable with topical numbing.

Downtime and aftercare

Similar to PicoLaser — 3–7 days of redness, swelling, possible blistering. Full healing between sessions 6–8 weeks.

Results

Excellent clearance for black and dark inks. Requires more sessions than PicoLaser (typically 8–15). Blue, green, and purple inks are more resistant to Q-switch wavelengths.
