The fastest, most complete tattoo removal technology available

PicoLaser is the current gold standard in tattoo removal — clearing tattoos in fewer sessions, achieving higher ink clearance rates, and treating previously 'resistant' colors (blues, greens, purples) that traditional Q-switched lasers struggle with. Its photomechanical effect shatters ink particles more completely and with less thermal damage to surrounding skin.

How it works

PicoLaser delivers energy in picosecond (trillionths of a second) pulses — 100x shorter than traditional nanosecond Q-switched lasers. This ultra-short pulse duration creates an intense photomechanical (photoacoustic) pressure wave that shatters ink particles into dust-like fragments far smaller than those produced by nanosecond lasers. Smaller particles are cleared by the immune system much more rapidly — typically requiring 40–75% fewer sessions than Q-switched treatment. The reduced thermal component also means less risk of scarring, hypopigmentation, and ghost images. Multiple wavelengths (532nm for red/orange, 755nm for blue/green, 1064nm for black/dark colors) allow targeting of virtually any ink color.

What to expect

Topical numbing is applied for 20–30 minutes. The laser handpiece is passed over the tattoo, with each pulse feeling like a rubber band snap against the skin. The treatment area immediately turns white (frosting) and may swell. A cold compress is applied post-treatment. Session duration depends on tattoo size.

Downtime and aftercare

Moderate. Redness, swelling, and some blistering for 3–7 days is normal and expected. Blisters should not be popped — they protect the healing skin. Full healing between sessions takes 6–8 weeks.

Results

Most tattoos require 4–8 sessions with PicoLaser (compared to 10–15+ sessions with Q-switched). Black ink clears fastest. Multicolored tattoos may require more sessions. Realistic expectation: 80–95% clearance for most tattoos with a full treatment course.

Ideal for

All tattoo colors, all skin types, previously treated tattoos, maximum clearance efficiency

Recommended treatment course

4–8 sessions, 6–8 weeks apart (minimum)

Typical appointment time

15–45 min depending on tattoo size
