Prescription-strength topicals that manage acne daily

Consistent daily skincare is the backbone of any acne treatment program. Dr. Kim prescribes and recommends medical-grade formulations — including prescription topicals when indicated — that work at a cellular level to prevent new breakouts and heal existing ones.

How it works

The foundation of medical acne skincare includes: tretinoin (increases cell turnover to prevent follicular plugging and has direct anti-acne effects), benzoyl peroxide (kills P. acnes bacteria with broad-spectrum action and no resistance risk), prescription antibiotics when inflammatory acne is significant (used short-term to reduce bacterial load), niacinamide (reduces sebum production and has anti-inflammatory properties), and azelaic acid (antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and mild brightening properties ideal for PIH). Dr. Kim's K-Beauty approach also prioritizes barrier health — acne patients often over-strip their skin, worsening inflammation. The regimen is calibrated to be effective without causing dryness or sensitization.

What to expect

A thorough skin assessment followed by a personalized home regimen prescription. Products are explained in detail — what each does, how to layer, when to use, and what to expect during the adjustment period. Follow-up is included to modify the regimen as your skin adapts.

Downtime and aftercare

None for most products. Tretinoin may cause a purge and initial dryness during the first 4–8 weeks — a sign it's working. Barrier-supporting products are prescribed alongside to minimize irritation.

Results

Most patients see meaningful improvement in 8–12 weeks of consistent use. Maximum results at 3–6 months. Used long-term as maintenance after in-office treatment courses.
