Permanent removal of localized fat deposits that resist diet and exercise
Liposuction permanently removes fat cells from specific areas of the body — contouring and reshaping areas that are unresponsive to diet and exercise. It is one of the most performed cosmetic procedures worldwide and, when performed by a physician with proper technique, produces lasting, natural-looking results.
How it works
See explanation in Volume & Contouring section. For body contouring, larger volumes of fat are removed from areas such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms, and back. Tumescent anesthesia allows the procedure to be performed comfortably under local anesthesia. The removed fat cells do not regenerate — contour improvement is permanent as long as significant weight gain does not occur.
What to expect
Local anesthesia (sedation available for larger areas). Small incisions through which the tumescent cannula and aspirating cannula pass. Compression garment worn for 4–6 weeks. Significant swelling and bruising for 2–3 weeks.
Downtime and aftercare
1–2 weeks off work for most patients. Compression garment for 4–6 weeks. Final contour result visible at 3–6 months as swelling fully resolves.
Results
Permanent fat cell removal. Significant improvement in body contour. Sculpted result at 3–6 months. Often combined with fat transfer to the face for comprehensive transformation.
